The purpose of this site is to collect lab research by medical doctors about herbs that are proven to treat illnesses and counter the false attacks on herbs by the medical industry and false claims by alternative medicine. I let the science tell the facts.

Aluminum Date Written 2007
Author Joe Holmes Date Revised

Aluminum is one of the most widely used metals and the most frequently found compound in the earth's crust.

A lot of research is being done about Alzheimers and aluminum. High concentrations are being studied for their cause of health problems. The water-soluble form of aluminum causes the harmful effects, these particles are called ions.

Some of the reported affects of aluminum in the body are;

- Damage to the central nervous system
- Dementia
- Loss of memory
- Listlessness
- Severe trembling

Read our page on Metallothionein for a possible genitic disease that may contribute to ones inability to eliminate aluminum from the body.

Many everyday products are reported to cause aluminum toxicity in the body. Small amounts of aluminum is reported to cause health problems.

Aluminum cookware, utensils, and aluminum foil [use stainless steel cookware]
Antacids [use digestive enzymes and make dietary changes]
Anti-inflammatories OTC [use Original-MSM]
Antiperspirants [use natural deodorants]
Baking powder [use natural alternatives]
Beverages in aluminum cans [use bottles]
Bleached flour [use 'whole' flour products]
Dental amalgams [replace]
Douche [use natural recipes]
Grated cheese and various commercial cheeses [avoid]
Municipal treated water (tap water) [use purified water]
Nasal spray [use natural alternatives]
Over-the-counter pain medications (e.g. aspirin) [use natural alternatives]
Shampoo [use natural shampoo]
Table salt [avoid; use sea salt]
Tobacco (smoke) [avoid]
Toothpaste [use natural toothpaste]

Aluminum toxicity can cause a variety of debilitating symptoms and health problems including: anemia, bone softening, calcium deficiency, colic, decreased liver and kidney function, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, memory loss, muscles pain and weakness, nervousness, rickets, and speech problems. Source

The site referenced at the end of this paragraph claims jet contrails contribute to aluminum toxicity with a incidence of diseases and death rate chart. Alzheimers was almost non existent prior to 1980 and now is number 7 in the selected causes of death. This site has a very intresting chart for death rates showing the rappid increase in Alzheimers Source

Aluminum is used in city water purification, "Aluminum coagulants remove sediment, nutrients, microbes and dissolved organic carbon, improving greatly the quality of water. Good coagulation clarifies water to the point where disinfection is easier, better and safer." Source

"For years, researchers have puzzled over the surprisingly high levels of aluminum that turn up in the shrivelled brains of Alzheimer's disease victims." "The latest evidence of a link emerged when Australian scientists reported that aluminum used to purify water accumulated in the brains of laboratory rats." Source

"The intake of large amounts of aluminum can also cause anaemia, osteomalacia (brittle or soft bones), glucose intolerance, and cardiac arrest in humans." Source

"DETECTION OF ALUMINUM TOXICITY  There is debate whether blood testing for aluminum has much value. Blood levels definetly do not indicate total body load of aluminum.  Hair aluminum levels appear to correlate well with bone levels of aluminum. Several hair tests may be needed before aluminum is revealed on the test. This is becasue the aluminum may be tightly bound within body tissues, and several months on a nutrition program may be required to mobilize the aluminum." Source

Information to remove aluminum from the body

"Eat a diet high in fiber. Include apple pectin in the diet to help remove aluminum from the body. Use only stainless steel, glass and iron cookware. Stainless steel is preferred. Avoid products containing aluminum or dihydroxyaluminum."

In accordance with FDA regulation, we do not make any therapeutic claims for any Dietary Supplements in accordance with the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act.

Possible Dietary Supplements that help remove aluminum
Apple Pectin is reported to bind with metals in the colon and excretes them from the body.
Calcium and Magnesium may bind with aluminum and help remove it from the body.
Coenzyme A, may support the immune systems detoxification processes.
Garlic is a natural detoxifier.
Kelp detoxifies the body of excess metals.
Lecithin heals the brain and cell membranes.
L-Glutathione blocks damage from toxic metals and radiation.
Multivitamin and Mineral Complex stabilizes vitamin and mineral imbalances in the body.
SAMe reduces stress and nervousness caused by excess aluminum.
Vitamin B Complex rids the intestinal tract of excess metals.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects cell membranes and improves circulation.
Burdock Root, Echinacea, Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba and Fiber can block damage to the body by toxic heavy metals and radiation. Source

1) Cilantro
2) Cilantro Chelation Pesto
3) Eat While Detoxing Your Body!
4) Cilantro Blend -- Coriander/Yellow Dock Tincture     Source

Summary: Whether one believes Aluminum causes health problems or not one thing is very intrusting. It is that Alzheimers and unexplained diseases relating to mental and immune systems have increased in direct correlation to the increase in aluminum in products, drinking water and our environment.

Blood tests are inclusive and are not reliable in evaluating heavy metals. Hair analysis is one way to test for heavy metals. The medical profession still refuses to recognize hair analysis or health problems from heavy metals if it is not present in a blood test.

Aluminum is being evaluated by an increase of medical professionals yet most still refuse to recognize its relationship to the drastic increase of mental and immune system diseases within the last 20 years.

DEFEROXAMINE - INJECTION by a physician may remove aluminum and iron Source

Quote:
"Although deferoxamine has not been approved by the FDA for aluminum chelation, deferoxamine has been used since 1980 as a first-line of treatment in cases of aluminum toxicity. (Important: Remember that deferoxamine is used to chelate iron. Therefore, during chelation treatment for aluminum, iron would also be chelated.) EDTA may also be used (Wentz 2000)." Source

Quote "Choosing foods with high fiber content and supplementing the diet with additional fiber (e.g., psyllium, acacia, apple pectin, and oat and wheat bran) aid the body in ridding itself of toxins. When adding fiber to your diet, use small amounts at first so that your digestive system can adjust to the added fiber. If gas or bloating occurs, reduce the amount until tolerance is achieved."
